Gazette sanctioning of the Heritage List 

The Government of Maharashtra officially sanctioned the Heritage List for Greater Bombay, granting legal recognition and protection to heritage buildings and precincts.

Directive on Building Heights in 'A' Ward

The GoM mandated that reconstructed buildings in ‘A’ Ward must conform to the prevailing height of surrounding structures to preserve the heritage character.

Additions to Heritage List

​Comprehensive Expansion of Heritage List

In 2005, the MMR-HCS updated Mumbai’s 1995 heritage list, adding 948 structures and 47 precincts, including sites from the western suburbs and eastern suburbs.
